Gettysburg

We made it all the way through the Gettysburg Museum this time.  Then we headed out to the battlefields.  I never realized how may hundreds of memorials, markers and monuments blanket the fields. But then I hadn’t remembered that over 51,000 soldiers died here in only three days.

The park is really beautiful and well preserved.  It is preserved in a way that makes it easy to follow how the battle went down.  They have built several observation towers in different spots where you could climb up and get a view of the different battle sights.   The boys left happy with their toy Civil War pistols, Avi with her set of Union Cavalry soldiers and horses.  We finally left Pennsylvania and after we stopped tonight, we watched "The Beast From 20,000 Fathoms."  Not quite scary enough to get us in the mood for Halloween, but great effects (for the 1940s).
