Two days in "New France"

From the moment we crossed the border into Ontario (on our way to Quebec) the scenery was fantastic.  There is something about cities along a major waterway.  We practically did a drive through when we got to Montreal – spending a total of 2 hours there.  We just wanted to get the flavor (and it was on the way to Quebec City).

After a “slumber party” in the “living room”, we were a little late to church at the only chapel, which houses the only ward in Quebec – and of course it was in French.  The kids liked the headphones, although the translator struggled a little so it was a bit hard to understand.

Quebec City was wonderful.  We were fortunate in the weather - after days of predicting rain and even snow, it dawned to clear blue skies and great weather for strolling around the old city.  It really did feel like a European city; of course everyone speaking a different language added to the effect.  We all learned the history of Quebec, which I had not known before but often wondered.  Once England took over "New France" and kicked the French government out, we had been wondering why the French Canadians didn't fight for independence against the British along with the colonies?  Well, it ends up that the colonists actually begged them to join with them, but guess what?  They were too wussy.  Shocking, isn't it?
