Last Days of California Summer

I should have posted on Saturday that Greg is home from the hospital and doing well.  He made it all the way to 8 doses, which was more than his doctor expected.  One of the criteria that has to be met each dose, that I don't think I have mentioned, is that he can't have gained more than 15% of his body weight.  So although other symptoms were not as severe, the 35 pounds of saline contributed to the cessation of treatment.  (20 of those pounds he has yet to shed).  He is doing pretty well, all things considered.  He might not agree (only because he can't remember) but I think that this post-treatment recovery is going more quickly than the other two.

Although our kids seemed to have a great week without us (MVS carnival on Friday, relishing the non-vegan atmosphere at their cousins), we feel like me missed out on everything and so have tried to jump right back into the flow of our family.  To this effort, Greg (not very wisely) attended a flag football play-off game for the twins the first night home (they won!).  This set him back a bit.  But he does not regret it and doesn't want to miss anything that he can possibly avoid missing.

  1. Thanks so much for the updates. What a great looking bunch your family is! Greg looks amazing. I mentioned this to Mom, and she said that in one of the pictures of him, he looked a lot like her dad. Good luck and our prayers are still with you.

  2. Thanks so much for keeping us all updated. We check this site regularly and pray for you all every day. Even our little Kamry in every prayer says, "Please bless uncle Greg to feel all better." We love you all and hope you continue to get better.
