Webelos No More

Someone accused me tonight of neglecting my blog, and I do not want to disappoint all 3 of my loyal viewers so here is a quick update.

As far as Greg's health, he is mostly recovered from that last round.  The immune reaction in his joints is mostly not painful anymore, except in his shoulders.  His shoulders were where the problem first manifested in the hospital, so it is likely the site where the most tissue damage was done - so we are guessing that it will just take some time.  The doctors don't have much to add on that subject; we definitely get the feeling that this is one of the more rare side effects.  His next scan is scheduled for December 14th, and that should tell us whether the IL-2 has kept doing its job.  We continue to pray hard and think positively.

So soccer is over, basketball is underway and lacrosse season is around the corner.  Dane & Drake turned 11 last week and met a bunch of friends at Sky High for their party (indoor trampoline wonderland).  I am sad that they are moving on to 11 year old scouts (only because I continue on as the Webelo leader), but they reassured me, "Mom,  11 is really no different than 10 - it is when we turn 12 that you should be really sad, because everything will change." (This did not really cheer me up).

In other El Dorado Hills news, the buffalo herd that lives next door will be leaving us soon.  Buffalo Will is in his 80s and has decided to sell the herd off and retire from managing the beasts.  Every day the kids check to see if the buffalo are still there.  They were still there on the way to school this morning and I snapped this photo from the road.

Poor Bella will miss sneaking into their pen; we caught her there the other day and up until then we truly believed that she never strayed from our property on her own.  Now we have to more seriously consider the signs that keep going up on the mailbox, reporting missing chickens: "feathers in found in the yard.  Please control your dogs..."  It must be coyotes, right?
