Quick stops at Home Depot (minor RV repair items) , Game Stop (to exchange a defective game that we bought in Omaha), and of course Waffle House, we headed to Springfield. The kids had stayed up late making up schoolwork and were glad for a few hours on the road so as not to have a repeat today. They hate it when Saturday has to be a make-up day. Plus they now had an operational DS game tantalizing them so good progress was made.
The Abraham Lincoln Presidential Museum was hands down the coolest museum I have ever been to in my life (so far). It was built in 2005 and has an amazing variety of technologically advanced exhibits – from special effects movie theatres to walk-through displays with holographic historical people taking, to wax figures that were the most realistic I have seen (and hey I’ve been to the Wax Museum in SF!) Seriously, I could go on an on – anyone who comes east for Church History or anything else must put this amazing place on their itinerary. The kids loved it – it is the only museum we have been in that we had to drag them out of (and we only did this because it was closing). Of course we were not allowed to take any photos, so you’ll have to take my word for it.
