These words, uttered by Mason after he decided to buckle down and be serious about his independent study, were a good descriptor for today, as all the kids had some serious catch-up to do after yesterday. So Greg and I ditched them and went shopping. I needed to find a copier for some math tests; as far as I can tell, Canada has no Kinkos. Just picture me with no Canadian coins at a coin-operated copy machine at the back of a drugstore, trying to get some teenagers to give me change for a dollar, not knowing what the heck a "looney" is. Lets just say that it may have been apparent that I was from out of town. We came back to 5 kids complaining: "We've done nothing today yet." Wow, it only took only 10 days for them to forget that at home during the school year they get to do "nothing" practically every day. I told them that at least they got to do nothing in Canada! Greg was more helpful when he pointed out that at home they have to work hard 5 days a week with one day of fun but now they get to have fun 5 days a week with one day of hard work. OK well that is not exactly how it always turns out, but they got the point. We headed to Vancouver - that is truly one of the most gorgeous drives, ever. We are a little concerned at the contrast we may feel when we hit Nebraska. Tonight we are staying at Historic Fort Langley (historic is code for all sit-down restaurants close by 7:30). So pizza it was - and who needs more evening entertainment than waiting on the railroad tracks for a train to pass?
Can't wait to get up to date.... This is the last one we've seen and it is Saturday night!
