Florida Beaches

We hit Miami Beach’s South Beach to check it out, before heading even further south to our southernmost point, the end of the Florida Keys.

We stayed at Pelican Bay and Marina in Key Largo and it ended up being one of the kid’s favorite stops.  The proprietor of the park, Suzanne, was an amazing host.  She let the kids use her kayaks to go up and down the canal and all over her marina.  She then taught them to fish. The kids would have been happy to just live there with Suzanne.

The drive out to Key West was a much anticipated event since the kids had seen these overseas bridges featured in a couple of movies and thus spent the drive trying to figure out which sections were actually the ones used in filming.  We stopped at Bahia Honda State Park, which supposedly has the best beaches in the keys and spent the afternoon there before heading on.

The Sheraton has a nice little resort right across from one of the only sand beached on Key West and we thought staying there would be a nice break from no AC (well actually Greg got the AC half working) and they have "heavenly" beds (not that our RV bed isn't perfectly "comfy").  We checked in and went into the main downtown for dinner.  It was amazing how hopping it was for 9pm on a Monday night.  Of course it was not really a kid’s scene. The Keys to the Florida Keys
