A Day of Rest
And did we ever need it! Picture us sleeping at a rest stop virtually 20 feet from I-80 traffic, all the windows open (remember, no AC) and not one of us moved a muscle until 10 AM. Greg quickly solved the electrical/generator problem (of course) while the kids took their morning constitutional running through a nearby weed field. Then we headed to the coast. The drive was beautiful (if a bit winding- well really winding actually). We spent the afternoon traveling up Hwy 1 through Mendocino, Fort Bragg, Rockport, Westport, etc...making random stops at any beach that looked worthy of a stroll. Tonight we are parked under beautiful towering redwoods at the Redwoods River Resort in Leggett (sounds fancy, yes?) We are rested, refreshed and the kids are super excited to start their early scripture study/home school routine first thing tomorrow morning (not).

I put my comment on the first day. I will get this yet. It is going to be so fun to share your trip. Dagny
ReplyDeleteWe're going to have to be very disciplined not to make the Porter Family Travels Blog take the place of reading morning scriptures. We are still laughing from the adventures of the first two days... Kaele is SUCH a great writer, the pictures are terrific and this is going to be GREAT FUN. Truly, being able to "be with" you guys via Blog is great.

ReplyDeleteI didn't know you could climb to the top of haystack rock. You need to watch the movie Goonies now that you've been there.
