Day 2 - Washington DC

DC is awesome!  Today the kids are sick of me taking pictures.  Well to be honest, this has been coming on for some time now.  Only Avi remained cooperative today – which is why she is so stunningly featured in almost every photo (I think actually that she thought she looked especially cute today).  We went to the top of the Washington Monument and got a great view of all the whole city – Greg & Mason thought they could definitely win the government lawn care contract away from whoever has it now.  And if you look closely you can see all the thousands of people demonstrating on the front lawn of the Capitol to oppose Obama's health care plan.  I hope it helps!

The Jefferson Memorial is really beautiful.  And of course we had to hit the Bureau of Engraving and Printing to make our national money tour complete.  It was really interesting (and after being told to go early to get tickets, we were able to just walk right in - gotta love the off-season).  We made a quick stop to visit Smokey The Bear at the US Forest Service Building.  After lunch we spent the rest of the afternoon in the Spy Museum.  It is a must-see for anyone traveling here.  We loved it – all of us.  There were great hands-on displays and I learned a ton of historical intrigue. And of course, the gift shop is a destination all by itself.

Greg & I were able to escape for a few hours tonight to shop and go out to dinner while the kids worked on schoolwork and ordered room service.  That was very nice! And now Greg & the kids are all downstairs swimming in the hotel pool.  I can’t understand no one has mentioned missing the RV.
