Day 3 - Washington DC

After our late night hotel party, we did not get a very early start –in other words, no one was serving breakfast anymore by the time we made it to a restaurant.  We first headed to the National Archives.  Greg & I both remember going here as kids, but now they have a movie and a cool interactive museum that allows people to see all the ways that the National Archives can be used for research, genealogy, etc…it was fun to see all of the documents whose significance we have been learning all about as we travel down the east coast.  They had a special exhibit called "BIG," which highlighted archive items that are the biggest, longest, most important etc..  among them was the original Articles of Confederation, its sheets connected to create a scroll over 13 feet long.

We next headed to the Air & Space Museum where we spent the rest of the day.  It was so much fun and huge – we found ourselves rushing to get everything in before it closed.  The kids say that they want to go to more “science” places instead of so many “pioneer” places.  Avi asked if all the pioneers that ever died will all be in heaven when we get there?  She then asked if all the people who die on all the other planets will also go the same heaven? I love the way her mind works.  She entertained us further tonight when we came in the room to find her in the window doing yoga.

  2. Laura, is this another joke about the size of my belly? Because it was only mildly funny the first 50 times. Now it just makes me cry.
