Three Months Already!!

Greg had another CT scan this morning, our first trek to Stanford since December 14th.  For those that are surprised, you are not crazy - it was originally scheduled for next week but they moved it up because Greg's oncologist was headed out of town.

The results were very good in that there is no bad news.  There remains a small (2mm) node in one lung and a slightly enlarged (1 cm) lymph node in his chest.  Both have shrunk slightly since December.   Dr. Srinivas explained that there is really no way to know what it is that is left without removing it for biopsy.  It could just be remaining scar tissue in which case it will remain unchanged from here on out, OR it could contain some remaining cancer cells.  She is meeting with a surgeon in the next few days to determine if it is possible to remove whatever is left of the chest lymph node for biopsy.  The surgery would be fairly invasive since they have to go through the sternum to get to it and they have to weigh that against the risk that they may not be able to specifically identify and remove such a small mass once they get in there.

So if surgery is not an option then we will get another CT scan in three months to see if anything has changed.  We should know by next week whether surgery is the next step.

Thank you for all of the prayers and fasting on our behalf.
